What personal information do we collect and why?

Comments

When you leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form and your computer’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact Forms

All contact forms on this site were created on Jotform.com and embedded here. The information collected includes the information requested on the form, the date it was submitted, and your computer’s IP address. The information collected on the form is often transferred to our database housed with InfusionSoft. We generally keep this information indefinitely, so we may refer to it as needed to deliver requested products, services, or information to you. Only our internal staff and service providers (Jotform and InfusionSoft) have access to this information. Our service providers do not provide your data to anyone else. Order Forms

If you choose to sign up for Fabi’s email list, your contact information will be kept indefinitely to deliver email notifications. If you choose not to sign up for Fabi’s email list, your data will be flagged for deletion in six weeks.

With whom do we share your data?

As noted above, we share data with our software service provides—specifically Google Analytics, InfusionSoft, Jotform, and PayPal—in order to provide the products, services, or information you’ve requested and to improve your user experience on our site.

How long do we retain your data?

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Contact form and order form data is retained indefinitely in case we need to refer to it at some point in the future.

What rights do you have over your data?

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

How do we protect your data?

We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information when you place an order or enter, submit, or access your personal information. All financial transactions on our site are completed via secure Infusions Payments. All form data is submitted using either JotForm’s or InfusionSoft’s encryption. Our database is accessible only to those authorized with special access rights to our system and who are required to keep the information confidential. Your privacy is important to us, but due to the existing legal regulatory and security environment, we cannot guarantee that your private communications and other personally identifiable information will not be disclosed to third parties. Under certain circumstances, the government or third parties may intercept or access transmissions or private communications. Additionally, in the unlikely event we need to investigate or resolve possible problems or inquiries, we can disclose any information about you to private entities, law enforcement, or other government officials as we, in its sole discretion, believes necessary or appropriate, or to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on SPARK Publications.
